Satellite Transfer of Video Archives

Archives can be stored locally at each remote site rather than streamed from a central location. Normally they are transferred over land lines and take a tremendous amount of bandwidth, often too much bandwidth to be practical. With a properly equipped PC, CADE can capture video archives as they are broadcast by satellite and store them on the Virtual Classroom PC or other network storage device. Archives are encoded live and compressed to a size that requires about 90mb of storage per hour of broadcast. Satellite transmission frees the network from having to move large amounts of data and provides on-demand capabilities where it otherwise couldn't exist.

The eTutor system was designed to have strong content management controls when it is deployed to the trainers. Fees, access restrictions, or certification requirements can be associated with the eTutor course material and only authorized personnel can use a course (or a selection of courses). eTutor allows the training providers to maintain control of their materials even when they are being used in the field.

Other key features of eTutor include:

  • Browser based interaction for students and instructors
  • No application software to install
  • Content and courses available on the Internet or LAN
  • Integration with CADE database for course management and student records
  • Insures only authorized access to courses
  • Communicate with unlimited number of students
  • Central point for content management and maintenance
  • Student information in the CADE Learning Management Web
