eTutor Servers

eTutor sessions may only include a few people or thousands located all over the world.  To accommodate this rapidly changing demand, both in a single session or throughout multiple sessions, the eTutor system uses a dynamically spawned set of eTutor server services.

The eTutor Guide doesn't communicate directly with the eTutor Participants.  Rather, a eTutor server manages the communication and distribution of data, audio, and video.  Multiple servers are created during an eTutor session on a single computer or spread across multiple computer in multiple physical locations to meet ever changing demands.

The eTutor system monitors the utilization of computers and bandwidth during a eTutor session and is able to dynamically allocate additional servers to meet the constantly fluctuating demands on the IT environment.  As the demand builds, the system will spawn additional servers to share the communications load.  When the session is over, the servers are deallocated and readjust during the next session.
