CADE Home More Information | On-Demand, Interactive Programming from Local StorageCADE's Learning Management Web supports many different types of training: live and pre-recorded satellite delivery, web-based, SCORM, paper-based, classroom, and "On-Demand". Although web-based and paper-based training are available on demand, "on-demand" will be used here to describe archived versions of live, satellite delivered courses that can be requested by an individual learner at a time of their own choosing. CADE provides on-demand training through a variety of approaches.
Transfer via Satellite Not Terrestrial LinesWhile the first two approaches are viable options, there is an increasing need to eliminate the transfer of large audio/video files over the terrestrial network. Doing so will reduce bandwidth requirements and provide a more responsive session to the learner. Working with its partners and the proper equipment, Savant has developed the capability to:
Use of a video receiver/server at the remote site allows a program to be captured locally as it is broadcast over the satellite and made part of a library of locally stored archives. Programs are captured by remote personnel explicitly saving the programs or can be captured by central office personnel, forcing selected courses to be saved on all remote systems. Once part of the library, these programs become part of the selection of On-Demand courses available to learners at each remote location. More Ways to Deliver Recorded ProgramsCADE supports the on-demand delivery of pre-recorded programs than any other system... all with interactivity and capture of participant responses.
Rebroadcast of Interactive ProgramsTied into the CADE scheduling system is the ability to start simulate the instructor's actions for pre-recorded programs, Participants log on, interact with the video, and have their responses recorded in the CADE database. Participants at remote locations can answer the questions exactly as they would just like it was a live broadcast. Interactive, pre-recorded programs don't require an instructor/presenter, yet allow the system to:
Recorded questions can be answered by recording an audio response through a special web page in the CADE Learning Management Web. Participants can hear both their original question and the recorded answer when they log on the web site. CADE On-Demand to the Desktop
CADE Solo - On-Demand to the Classroom
CADE Solo provides this ability by allowing a training coordinator to select from a list of locally stored video archives. Once selected, it automatically starts the CADE Virtual Classroom and establishes a link to the CADE database through the Solo Server in the studio. Participants can watch the program on the TV and respond to questions asked by the instructor with their wireless remote controls just as if it were live. Synchronized Delivery of Questions with VideoIn each scenario, CADE has the ability to use the timing information stored in the database to present questions to the learner in synchronization with the instructor in the video so that it appears to be a live course... Without transmitting large video files over the wide area network! While the learner can not call in and talk with the instructor, they can record an audio question that is answered by the instructor or subject matter expert at a later time. Conditional AccessSites equipped to capture archives via satellite can also be restricted by the conditional access features of CADE. Sites can be selected for broadcast based on standard information like state, region, size, etc. or on an unlimited number of characteristics assigned to a individual site. |
